Grain storage solutions

Silos, on-floor storage, aeration and bulk loading bins for farms, cooperatives and industrial sites

Complete solutions for grain storage

GGS designs complete grain storage solutions for farms, cooperatives, storage operators and agro-industrial sites. Each project is studied according to the storage volume, grain type, reception flow, aeration requirements, civil engineering constraints and overall site organisation. Our range covers different storage systems for each configuration. Available capacities range from 13 m³ to 25,500 m³, meeting the needs of both farm installations and large-capacity projects. GGS silos are made from corrugated galvanised steel, with high corrosion protection levels, including Z600/G600 galvanisation and a ZM310 Magnelis roof, depending on the configuration.

An approach based on real operating conditions

Each storage project starts with a precise analysis of the site: required capacity, available space, existing layout, reception flow, handling requirements, climate conditions, storage duration and product rotation objectives. Based on this analysis, GGS defines the most suitable configuration and sizes the required equipment: silo type, aeration system, perforated floor, channels, aeration cones, conveyors, elevators, unloading systems, automation and control equipment. The objective is to preserve the healthy condition of the grain, reduce humidity-related risks, simplify daily operation and optimise the cost per stored tonne.

Choosing the right storage configuration

Depending on the intended use, several solutions can be considered:

  • Long-term storage in flat-bottom bins for large volumes,
  • Storage with gravity unloading in hopper bins,
  • Indoor storage to make use of existing or photovoltaic buildings,
  • On-floor storage for multi-purpose buildings,
  • Temporary storage to absorb harvest peaks,
  • Bulk loading bins to speed up truck loading logistics,
  • Silo aeration to keep grain cool, healthy and stable.

This approach makes it possible to adapt each installation to the stored product, local conditions, desired automation level and economic objectives of the project.

Our storage solutions

Flat-bottom grain bins

Flat-bottom bins are designed for long-term grain storage and large volumes. Their corrugated galvanised steel structure provides a robust, durable installation adapted to the needs of farms, cooperatives and industrial sites. They can be sized to measure according to the installation, storage volumes and site constraints.

Key benefits:

  • Storage capacity from 35 m³ to 25,500 m³
  • Installation, from 3 to 32 m diameter
  • High corrosion resistance thanks to galvanisation
  • High-quality aeration
  • Simplified civil engineering and fast unloading

Hopper grain bins

Hopper bins are designed for storing grain, seed and bulk products requiring fast and natural unloading. Their hopper design reduces handling requirements, avoids direct contact between the grain and the floor, and reduces civil engineering costs. They also reduce grain recovery mechanics thanks to gravity unloading.

Key benefits:

  • Storage capacity from 13 m³ to 4,394 m³
  • Diameters from 3 to 13.23 m
  • Gravity unloading
  • 45°, 60° or 66° cones, avoiding grain contact with the floor
  • Easy daily monitoring with dedicated accessories

Indoor grain storage silos

Indoor storage makes it possible to install flat-bottom or hopper bins inside an existing building. This solution optimises available space, makes use of an existing structure and increases storage capacity without building a new outdoor installation while keeping the organisation adapted to the site constraints.

Key benefits:

  • Simplified civil engineering
  • High corrosion resistance
  • Investment optimisation with the lowest possible price per stored tonne
  • High-quality aeration
  • Possible storage in flat-bottom or hopper bins

On-floor grain storage

On-floor storage allows a building to be fitted out flexibly for grain storage, with an organisation that can evolved. This solution is suitable for new, existing or refurbished buildings, with the possibility of progressively integrating aeration, handling, loading and unloading equipment according to site needs.

Key benefits:

  • More multi-purpose building layout
  • Wide choice of handling systems for loading
  • Progressive layout possible such as walls, channels, fans, aeration grids, etc.

Temporary grain storage

Temporary storage makes it possible to quickly increase storage capacity during harvest peaks. Simple to install and transport, this solution provides an economical response for absorbing large volumes without heavy civil engineering work.

Key benefits:

  • Large storage capacity, from 5,000 to 100,000 tonnes
  • Reduced civil engineering constraints
  • Transportable from one site to another
  • Low-cost temporary increase in storage capacity

Grain silo aeration systems

Silo aeration is essential to preserve grain quality once it has been stored. It helps control humidity, keep the grain cool and reduce the risk of mould or insect development, with concepts adapted to the different storage configurations of the site.

Key benefits:

  • Mobile fan range from 1.5 to 18.5 kW
  • 3 aeration concepts: perforated floor, channels and aeration cone
  • Preserves grain quality

Bulk loading bins

Bulk loading bins optimise truck loading and improve site logistics. They can act as buffer storage between handling equipment, a dryer, a cleaner, a storage bin or a loading point, while simplifying unloading thanks to gravity.

Key benefits:

  • Truck loading optimised in less than 5 minutes
  • Storage capacity from 31 to 137 m³
  • Simple and economical gravity unloading with a 45° hopper
  • Buffer storage between two process
